IF_character cards "Breakfast"

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. At one time in my life I loved it so much I had it for lunch as well. My lunch consisted of 100% pure sugar cereals... Eventually I stopped this trend and I actually went through a sugar withdrawal 0_o haha! It was terrible. The girl in the picture is about to get her wake up "fix." haha

Illustration was made for "Illustration Friday's" weekly topic: Breakfast.

Arnold Friberg Tribute (1913-2010)

Arnold Friberg recently passed away. For years he has been an idol of mine, and I love looking at and studying his works.

To give a little background he is the Norman Rockwell of religion. His 15 paintings were chosen to depict Cecil B. Demille's legendary, "The Ten Commandments," he was commissioned to paint illustrations for the Book of Mormon, and he is most famous for doing a painting of George Washington praying at Valley Forge. Also among his accomplishments he did hundreds of paintings for the Canadian Mounties, was chosen to paint royalty, and the list goes on. The world has lost a great artist, and I am sad that he passed away. Thankfully his works will live on, and we can still experience them.

Regarding the picture, I focused on the Drama, and extremely BUFF guys that Friberg commonly depicted...even if they were 80 years old. haha!

I also consider this painting as my FINAL original piece for the Digital Illustration class I took earlier this summer. I emulated what I learned from Brandon Dorman's painting (see previous blog entries)

IF_character cards "Diary"

Just for the record I've NEVER kept a diary. I prefer to call it a journal! At one point in my life I kept a journal 7 years straight and only have one day I have no clue what happened. ^_^ haha!

I am starting something new called, "Character cards." I will create a character and situation based off of the weekly topic for 'Illustration Friday'. I will focus particularly on personality and diversity, geared towards children.

Painting Practice

It's been a few weeks since I last posted, so I figured I would put something up. I have to admit that I based this loosely from a photo of Juri Ueno, but took ALOT of creative liberties. (Background for example is practically made up.)

I honestly just needed something decent to practice painting and try some new theories on. All the colors used were from scratch (Eye dropper was NOT used on the photo reference.) I only painted with the standard Photoshop brush set on Opacity-pressure.
